A day trip from Nice to Eze and Monaco is an easy, low-effort way to see two very different places on the Côte d'Azur. Eze is a small medieval hilltop village with narrow stone lanes, craft shops, and sweeping sea views from the exotic garden at the top. Monaco feels like an entirely different country: packed with luxury cars, superyachts, and high-rise buildings around the famous casino and harbor. Most tours run 4–8 hours, include pickup from central Nice, a guide for the village portion, and free time in Monte Carlo. Expect comfortable but not luxurious transport and a fair amount of walking on uneven cobblestones in Eze.
Spring (April–June) and early fall (September–October) are the best times. The weather is usually pleasant, crowds are manageable, and you avoid the July–August peak when both places get uncomfortably packed and hot. Expect to pay around €70–€130 per person depending on group size and whether it includes lunch or just transport and guiding. Private tours or smaller vans sit at the higher end.
Pick the version that stops in Eze first for the uphill climb while you're still fresh, then gives you decent free time in Monaco. Skip the perfume factory stop if your tour offers it; it's mostly a sales pitch. Bring comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and cash for snacks or the garden entry in Eze. If you're short on time or don't like group pacing, it's easy enough to do by train and bus on your own instead.
