Mont Salève Cable Car from Geneva

The cable car ride up Mont Salève takes about ten minutes and deposits you at roughly 1,100m with wide-open views over Geneva, the lake, and the Jura on one side, plus the Mont Blanc range on the other when it's clear. Expect a simple station at the top with a couple of short walks to viewpoints; it's not a full mountain resort. Most people spend 1–2 hours up there before heading back down. It's a quick half-day trip from central Geneva by car, bus or bike to the base, and the views can be excellent on clear days, but the summit itself is fairly bare with just a few paths and a restaurant that gets busy at lunch.

Best time is late spring through early autumn on a clear weekday morning; summer weekends get crowded and the heat can make the open summit uncomfortable. In winter the cable car sometimes closes for wind or snow. Expect to pay around €12–18 return for an adult ticket depending on the season. One honest tip: go early and walk ten minutes along the ridge path away from the station for much better photos and fewer people; skip the overpriced summit café and bring a snack instead. If the weather forecast isn't at least mostly sunny, skip it entirely – the views are the whole point.
