Mud Spa in Nadi: Worth It?

The Sabeto mud baths are a simple, fun, and slightly goofy experience. You smear yourself with cool grey mud, let it dry in the sun, then rinse off in warm mineral pools. The water is naturally heated and feels pleasantly silky. Most people add a short massage afterward. It’s not a luxury spa – it’s more like an outdoor playground for adults. Expect basic changing rooms, shared pools, and a very local, laid-back vibe. The whole thing usually takes 60–90 minutes.

Best time to go is the dry season (May to October) when the weather is cooler and you won’t feel sticky after rinsing. Expect to pay around $35–65 per person for the basic mud pool + hot springs entry. Adding a 30-minute massage pushes it closer to $70–110. Combo tours with transport and lunch can run $150–180 if you don’t have your own wheels.

Tip: Just do the mud bath and springs – skip the overpriced “premium” packages or long tours unless you really want the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. Bring your own reef-safe sunscreen and a quick-dry towel; the provided ones are often thin. It’s touristy but still genuinely enjoyable if you go with the silly spirit of it.
