Museums Tour in Ho Chi Minh City

A half-day museums tour in Ho Chi Minh City usually focuses on the War Remnants Museum and the Reunification Palace (Independence Palace). Expect a sobering experience. The War Remnants Museum is heavy with graphic photos, American and Vietnamese military equipment, and unfiltered commentary on the war. The Palace offers a contrast—grand rooms, underground bunkers, and a rooftop view that feels like stepping back into 1975. Tours are mostly walking with a guide, some transport between sites, and last 3–5 hours. It’s informative but emotionally draining; don’t plan anything too fun right after.

The dry season from December to April is easiest for walking outdoors. Expect to pay around $40–80 per person for a small-group or private half-day tour including transport and a guide. Entry tickets are cheap and sometimes included. Solo travelers can easily do both sites by Grab and audio guides for less, but a decent guide adds useful context.

Pick the War Remnants Museum if you only have time for one—it’s the most impactful. Skip the History Museum unless you’re really into artifacts and ceramics; it feels dated and less relevant to most visitors’ interests. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and go in the morning to avoid the worst heat and crowds.
