Expect a chill, urban paddling experience with views of the city skyline, houseboats, and seaplanes taking off nearby. It’s accessible for beginners — the water is usually flat unless the wind picks up. Most rentals are hourly or half-day. Don’t expect wilderness solitude; you’ll share the water with kayakers, sailboats, and plenty of other renters.
The best time is June through early September when the weather is warmest and daylight is long. May and October can work but expect cooler water and less predictable sun. Expect to pay around $35–$55 for a two-hour rental or $65–$90 for a half-day. Full-day rentals are available but rarely worth it unless you really know what you’re doing. Go early in the morning if you want fewer people on the water.
Tip: Choose a wider, more stable board if it’s your first time or if it’s breezy — the extra stability is worth more than looking athletic.
