Paragliding Near Mumbai: What to Know

Most paragliding "Mumbai" trips are actually 2–4 hour drives to the Western Ghats, typically around Kamshet or Lonavala. Expect a 10–15 minute tandem flight with a certified pilot, soaring over green hills, small lakes, and valleys. The actual airtime feels short but the views are decent if the weather cooperates. Ground transport, basic briefing, and equipment are included; you’ll land on a grassy slope and usually get a jeep ride back. It’s not a high-adrenaline stunt – more like a gentle scenic float with occasional thermals.

Best time is October to March when the wind is stable and monsoon rains have stopped. Avoid June–September; the hills are beautiful but flights are frequently cancelled. Expect to pay around ₹4,000–7,000 per person for a standard tandem flight including pickup from Mumbai. Add ₹1,000–2,000 if you want video or photos from a separate drone or cameraman.

Pick a morning slot to avoid stronger afternoon winds. Skip anything advertised as “Mumbai city paragliding” – those are usually parasailing behind a speedboat at Juhu beach and feel completely different. Book directly with an operator who supplies certified pilots and good gear; if they push hard for GoPro packages during booking, that’s your cue to compare elsewhere first.
