Parasailing in Bali is straightforward: you get harnessed into a parachute, a speedboat pulls you up, and you float 100-200 meters above the water for 5-10 minutes. The views of the coastline, waves, and sometimes Mount Agung are genuinely impressive on a clear day. Expect some noise from the boat engine, a few mild jolts during takeoff and landing, and the unmistakable feeling of your stomach dropping for the first 10 seconds. It's not a thrill ride like bungee jumping — more like a scenic, slightly adrenaline-tinged float. Most people smile the whole time once they're up.
The dry season (May to September) is easily the best time. Seas are calmer, winds more predictable, and cancellation rates are much lower than in the wet months. Expect to pay around $35-65 per person depending on location (Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa are the main hubs), whether you go solo or tandem, and if the operator includes photos or video. It's rarely worth booking through your hotel — they add a big markup.
Pick the standard 10-minute flight and skip the overpriced "premium" packages with extra tricks or longer air time; they're usually not worth it. Go early in the morning when the water is glassy and the light is best. If you're prone to seasickness, take something beforehand because the boat ride out can be bouncy.
