Parasailing in Phuket: What You Need to Know

Parasailing in Phuket is straightforward: you get strapped into a harness, the boat takes off, and within seconds you’re 200–300 feet up gliding behind it. The flight itself lasts only 8–12 minutes but the views over turquoise water and beaches are excellent. Expect some noise from the boat motor, a bit of swaying in the harness, and a splashdown landing if you choose the “wet” option. It’s not a peaceful paragliding experience – it’s more like a quick, thrilling amusement-park ride with a sea view. Most trips leave from Patong or Kata beaches and include a speedboat transfer.

The best time is December through April when the Andaman Sea is usually calmest and winds are steadier. June to October often has rougher water and many operators cancel or run shorter flights. Expect to pay around $25–45 per person for a standard 10-minute flight; packages with jet-ski or banana boat add-ons push it toward $50–70. Pick the basic parasail-only trip from a busy beach operator – it’s quick and reliable. Skip the long-day tours that combine it with island hopping unless you really want both; the extra time on a crowded boat usually isn’t worth it.
