A speedboat tour from Phuket to Phi Phi gets you there in about 45-60 minutes instead of the slower ferry. Expect a full day that usually includes two or three snorkeling stops, a visit to Maya Bay (if allowed that day), time on Phi Phi Don for lunch and wandering, and the ride back. The boats are fast but can be bumpy when the sea is choppy; you’ll get wet, the music is often loud, and the snorkel sites are busy with other tours. It’s a long day with a lot of people around, but you see the famous viewpoints and swim in clear water without needing to stay overnight.
Best time is December to April when the Andaman Sea is calmer and visibility is good. From May to October the monsoon brings rougher seas, more cancellations, and poorer snorkeling. Expect to pay around $50–$80 per person for a standard group speedboat tour that includes snorkel gear, lunch, and transfers. Private charters start much higher if you want space and flexibility.
Tip: Choose a tour that departs early (around 8am) so you reach the islands before the crowds thicken and get better light for photos. Skip the add-on “VIP” packages that promise fewer people; most boats still converge at the same spots. If you get seasick easily, take medication beforehand or consider the ferry instead.
