Expect it to feel more like relaxed floating than serious rowing – the water is calm, the views are decent, and you'll share the space with plenty of other boats. It's not wilderness solitude, but it's genuinely fun on a sunny afternoon, especially if you're traveling with kids or want a break from walking the city.

The best time is spring (April–June) or early autumn (September–October) when the weather is mild and crowds are manageable. Avoid midday in July and August – the heat reflecting off the water is brutal and you'll be fighting for boats.
