Expect a lively but chaotic scene: call to prayer echoing across the medina, the Atlas mountains turning pink in the distance, and a mix of tourists, local couples, and groups snapping photos. Most terraces are simple furnished spaces with low tables, cushions, and decent views over rooftops. Drinks are the main event – expect cold beer, Moroccan wine, classic cocktails, or mint tea. It gets crowded and noisy after 6pm; you'll share the space with others but the sunset itself is genuinely beautiful for 20-30 minutes before the light fades.
Best time is March to early June or September to November when days are warm but not scorching. Avoid midsummer if you hate 40°C+ heat even at dusk. Expect to pay around 150-350 MAD per person for a couple of drinks and maybe a small snack; fancier places with better views charge toward the higher end. Non-alcoholic options are cheaper.
Pick a spot with a clear western view and go early to secure a good table – around 45 minutes before sunset. Skip anywhere that pushes a full dinner menu or has thumping music; the quieter terraces with simple drinks are more enjoyable. Bring a light jacket for after dark when it cools quickly.
