The Sforza Castle is a massive brick fortress right in the center of Milan with several small museums inside: arms and armor, old musical instruments, archaeological finds, and a decent sculpture collection that includes Michelangelo's unfinished Rondanini Pietà. Expect a solid 90 minutes to two hours if you want to see the highlights without rushing. The rooms are atmospheric but not air-conditioned, so it can get hot and crowded on summer weekends. The castle grounds and park behind it are pleasant for a walk afterward.
Best time to visit is spring or fall on a weekday morning. Expect to pay around €8-15 for a basic ticket depending on what you choose; guided tours or combo tickets with other Milan sites push it closer to €25-40 per person. Skip the temporary exhibitions unless you're into a specific topic—they're often forgettable. Focus instead on the Pietà, the armor hall, and the views from the towers if they're open.
