Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik: Worth It?

Sky Lagoon sits on a clifftop outside Reykjavik with dramatic ocean views and a modern design that feels more like an upscale infinity pool than a traditional geothermal lagoon. Expect a 7-step ritual that includes a cold plunge, sauna, steam room, body scrub, and relaxation areas before you float in the warm water. The experience is relaxing and photogenic, especially at sunset, but it gets crowded and the ritual can feel a bit scripted if you're not into spa routines. It's smaller and more compact than the famous Blue Lagoon, which some people prefer.

Best time is shoulder season (April-May or September-October) when crowds are lighter and prices are lower. Summer offers midnight sun but books up fast; winter gives you a chance to see the Northern Lights from the water if you're lucky. Expect to pay around $70–$130 per person depending on time of day, package, and whether you add transfers from Reykjavik. Adding the Golden Circle tour bumps it up to roughly $180–$250 for the full day.

Tip: Skip the basic ticket and get the package that includes the full ritual and a drink — it's worth it for the complete experience. If you're short on time, do it as a standalone evening visit rather than combining with the Golden Circle; the long day tour can feel rushed and you'll enjoy the lagoon more when you're not exhausted from sightseeing.
