Snorkeling with Turtles in San Juan

You'll also see plenty of sergeant majors, parrotfish, rays, and the occasional barracuda. The water is usually clear enough to see turtles from the surface, but you'll want to get in for the best views. It's a shallow site (mostly 8–20 ft), so it's suitable for beginners as long as you can swim comfortably. Best time is May through October when the water is warmest and turtle sightings are most consistent. Winter can be choppier and the water cooler, though you can still see turtles. Pick the smaller-group tours that go to Escambrón Marine Park or similar protected bays; they're more relaxed and give you more time in the water.
