Swim with Dolphins in Orlando: Worth It?

Expect a structured, controlled experience rather than a wild encounter. Most programs put you in a shallow-water or platform area first for a briefing, then you get in the water with a small group for 20–30 minutes. You’ll do a few trained behaviors like touching, kissing, and holding on while the dolphin tows you. It’s fun and the animals are impressive, but it feels more like a well-run zoo interaction than swimming freely with wild dolphins. The water is clear and warm year-round, but you’ll share the session with 6–12 other people and several dolphins.

The best time is winter (December–February) when crowds are lighter and prices sometimes dip. Summer is busier, hotter, and more expensive. Expect to pay around $250–$400 per person for a standard shallow-water or platform program; deeper-water “swim” options push $450–$650. Photo packages and video add another $50–$150 if you want them.

Pick the smallest group size you can afford for more actual dolphin time. Skip the “dolphin encounter plus sea lion show” combo packages unless you really want both; the dolphin part is the main event and the rest is filler. Book directly with the park if possible; third-party resellers rarely save money and can complicate cancellations.
