Swimming with Pigs in Nassau: What to Know

The pig swim is a straightforward half-day boat trip from Nassau to a small island where a colony of friendly pigs wade and lounge in shallow water. You’ll get roughly 15-20 minutes in the water feeding and interacting with them before the rest of your time is free on the beach. The pigs are used to people and generally gentle, though larger ones can be pushy if you’re holding food. Expect clear but often shallow water, lots of other visitors, and a casual island vibe with a bar and food available. It’s fun and silly rather than a pristine nature experience.

Best time is December to April when the weather is driest and seas are calmer; summer brings more heat, rain, and risk of rough boat rides. Expect to pay around $150–$250 per person depending on whether you choose a small-group tour or a packed catamaran. Private or semi-private boats cost more but give you longer actual time with the pigs and fewer crowds.

Pick a smaller boat that stops at a turtle spot on the way back; the turtles are often the unexpected highlight. Skip the full-day versions that add distant snorkel stops unless you really want a long day on the water – the pigs themselves don’t need eight hours.
