Swimming with Pigs in Nassau: Worth It?

Expect a loud, splashy, and surprisingly fun half-day boat trip. The pigs are friendly (and often very large), wading or swimming right up to the boat for food. You'll get 20-40 minutes in the water with them on a small sandy beach, usually combined with a stop at a shallow reef for snorkeling with turtles or rays. The water is clear and warm, but it can feel chaotic when multiple boats arrive at once and passengers are all trying to feed and photograph the animals. It's genuinely entertaining if you like animals, but it's not a tranquil nature encounter.

The best time is December through April when the weather is driest and seas are calmer. Expect to pay around $110–$190 per person depending on whether you choose a small-group tour or a larger catamaran trip that includes lunch and an extra stop. Private boat charters run significantly higher.

Pick a smaller boat tour that leaves early in the morning – you'll beat the crowds and have better light for photos. Skip the all-day Exuma trips unless you specifically want the longer journey; the pigs are much closer to Nassau on Rose Island and don't require eight hours at sea. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a waterproof phone case, and cash for tips if your captain does a good job.
