Ardastra Gardens Zoo in Nassau: Worth It?

Expect a relaxed, low-key mix of gardens, a small zoo, and a flamingo show. The grounds are pleasant with shady paths, native plants, and over 200 bird species including Caribbean flamingos that march on command during the short daily presentations. You'll see parrots, iguanas, snakes, and a few monkeys. It's more peaceful than thrilling – perfect for an easy 90-minute visit rather than a full-day attraction. The place feels a bit dated but the birds and gardens are genuinely nice.

Best time is December to April when it's cooler and drier. Avoid midday in summer when it's brutally hot and humid. Expect to pay around $25-45 per person including the flamingo show; add a few dollars more if you want a guided tour instead of wandering on your own. Families with young kids or anyone short on time should consider skipping it in favor of beaches or snorkeling.

One solid tip: go early in the morning for better animal activity and fewer crowds. Skip the gift shop and overpriced snacks – bring water and sunscreen instead. The flamingo show is the clear highlight; everything else is pleasant but optional.
