Should You Visit Cable Beach in Nassau?

Cable Beach is Nassau's most accessible stretch of sand: soft and white with calm, shallow turquoise water that stays warm year-round. Expect a lively but not chaotic scene with plenty of locals, cruise passengers, and resort guests. You can swim, rent jet skis or paddleboards, grab drinks from beach bars, or just lounge. It's easy to reach from the port or your hotel, but it does get crowded midday, especially when ships are in. The sand is clean enough and the water is clear, though you won't have it to yourself unless you arrive early or late in the day.

Best time is December to April when the weather is driest and breeziest. Summer and fall are hotter, more humid, and carry a higher chance of rain or storms. Expect to pay around $75–$120 per person for a half-day guided excursion that includes transport and some activities. Independent visitors pay almost nothing beyond taxi fare ($10–20 round trip from central Nassau), plus whatever you spend on rentals or food.

Smart move: go independently early in the morning or late afternoon and skip the big group tours unless you want everything organized. Grab a day pass at one of the big resorts if you want pools and nicer facilities; otherwise just pick a quiet section of public beach. Skip the jet ski touts that approach you on the sand unless you're experienced with them in busy waters.
