Ardastra Gardens is a small wildlife and botanical park just outside central Nassau. Expect a relaxed 45-90 minute visit walking shaded paths lined with tropical plants, native birds, and a collection of parrots, iguanas, and other animals. The main event is the daily flamingo marching show where trainers put a flock of trained Caribbean flamingos through basic drills. It’s mildly entertaining rather than spectacular. The grounds are compact, clean, and easy to explore on foot; you won’t need a full day here.
Best time to visit is December through April when it’s drier and slightly cooler. Expect to pay around $25–40 per adult for entry including the flamingo show; kids are cheaper. Add transportation if you’re not on a cruise or with a driver—taxis or pre-booked tours push the total per person into the $60–120 range depending on group size and whether lunch is included.
Tip: go early in the morning for fewer crowds and more active animals. Skip the gift shop and overpriced snacks inside; eat before or after in town. If you’re short on time or not into birds, you can comfortably skip it in favor of the beach or a boat trip.
