Kuala Lumpur has two main theme park experiences: a big indoor one smack in the middle of Bukit Bintang that's convenient but can feel crowded and artificial, and larger outdoor parks 30-45 minutes away that mix roller coasters, water slides, and wildlife areas. Expect decent rides, lots of families, and Malaysian-style organization - things run okay but queues can be long on weekends. The indoor option is air-conditioned and perfect for a half-day when it's pouring; the bigger parks need a full day and give you more variety but you'll be walking in the heat.
Best time is weekdays during the drier months from June to September. Avoid school holidays and weekends if you can. Expect to pay around $25-45 per person for a basic day pass at the smaller park, or $40-70 for the bigger ones that include water park access. Food and transport add another $15-25 easily.
Pick the bigger outdoor park if you want proper thrills and don't mind the travel. Skip the indoor one unless it's raining hard or you only have a few hours - it's fine but feels more like a big arcade than a real theme park. Bring your own snacks if you're on a budget; the markup inside is painful.
