Expect a calm, orderly Swiss experience: multiple pools at different temperatures (usually 34–38°C), steam rooms, saunas, and a circuit that often includes Roman-Irish elements like warm-to-hot rooms followed by cooling plunges. The atmosphere is quiet and focused on relaxation; most people move through the ritual in silence. You’ll get very clean changing areas and showers, but it’s not luxurious spa pampering. The thunderstorm shower is a fun surprise that many enjoy. Clothing is usually optional in the main thermal areas after a certain hour or in specific zones, so check the day’s rules when you arrive.
Best time is autumn through spring. In winter you get the full contrast of hot water against cold air, which feels amazing. Summer works but the experience loses some magic when it’s already 30°C outside. Expect to pay around 60–85 CHF for a 3–4 hour visit including sauna and all pools; treatments or massages push it higher. A basic ticket without extras is usually enough.
Tip: Do the full Roman-Irish circuit once; it’s the most interesting part. Skip overpriced add-on massages unless you really want one; the thermal experience itself is the main event. Go mid-week if possible; weekends get noticeably busier.
