A traditional dhow dinner cruise in Doha is a relaxed evening sail around the bay on a wooden boat built in the old style. Expect about 2–2.5 hours of gentle cruising with Doha’s skyline lit up at night. Most trips include a buffet with grilled meats, fish, salads, and Arabic sides cooked on a live BBQ station. There’s usually some background Arabic music, occasional live oud playing, and space to move around the deck for photos. It’s touristy but still feels low-key compared to the city’s glitzier experiences. The boat rarely gets rough unless the wind picks up.
November to March is by far the best time — temperatures drop to the low 20s at night and the humidity disappears. Summer sails are possible but you’ll be stuck indoors with the AC. Expect to pay around $45–75 per person depending on whether you choose a standard shared boat or a smaller upgraded one with better food and fewer people. Hotel pickup is often included.
Pick the later departure (around 7–8pm) so you get full darkness and cooler air. Skip the cheap no-name operators that pack in 100+ people; the experience drops sharply. If the option exists, pay a bit more for the smaller “premium” sailing — the food and space are noticeably better. Bring a light jacket even in winter; it gets breezy on the water.
