Security is tight – no large bags, thorough checks, and you can't wander the grounds. The experience is informative but somewhat dry; it's best for people genuinely interested in international diplomacy rather than casual sightseeing. The visitor entrance is on the side opposite the Red Cross museum.

Go between April and October when tours run most frequently. Spring and early autumn are ideal – fewer crowds than summer and better weather for the walk from the tram. Skip the add-on city tours that bundle the UN with the Flower Clock and old town – they're rushed and not worth it.
