Should You Do a UTV Tour in Aruba?

A UTV tour puts you behind the wheel of a four-wheel-drive side-by-side that can handle Aruba’s rocky north coast, dirt tracks, and shallow water crossings. Expect two to four hours of driving through arid landscapes, stops at natural rock formations, a swim in a small cave pool if you choose that version, and a bit of light off-roading. The vehicle is easy to drive but loud; you’ll wear helmets and get covered in red dust. Tours usually run in small groups so it doesn’t feel like a convoy. It’s genuinely fun if you like being outdoors and driving yourself, less so if you prefer relaxing on a beach.

Best time is January through April when it’s dry and temperatures are slightly lower. Rainy season (October–December) can make some trails slippery and the cave pool tours get canceled more often. Expect to pay around $110–$160 per person depending on tour length, whether pickup is included, and if it has extras like cliff jumping or snorkel stops. Book at least a couple of weeks ahead in high season.

Pick the shorter 2.5–3 hour coastal route if you just want the driving experience and good photos. Skip the add-on cliff-jumping version unless you’re confident in the water; the “natural pool” is often small, crowded, and slippery. Bring a bandana or buff for dust, wear closed shoes, and don’t bother with the GoPro unless you really want footage of bumpy roads.
