Penn Center is the historic campus of the former Penn School, one of the nation's first schools for formerly enslaved people, located on St. Helena Island at the heart of Gullah culture. This National Historic Landmark District and research institution offers docent-led tours of the York W. Bailey Museum and educational programs exploring African American history and heritage from 1862 to today.
