Princes Street Gardens are two adjacent public parks in central Edinburgh lying beneath Edinburgh Castle, created in the 1820s after draining the Nor Loch. Visitors can walk among monuments including the Scott Monument and statues of historical figures, explore landscaped grounds divided by The Mound (which houses the National Gallery of Scotland), and in winter experience Edinburgh's Christmas with amusement rides and markets.
