Air Canada’s Aeroplan is jacking up partner award prices on June 1, with business class to Asia leaping from 87,500 to 102,500 points one-way in the longest Pacific band. Some routes see increases approaching 67% when you factor in dynamic medians, and first class to Europe is climbing from 100,000 to 120,000 points on many transatlantic hauls. The good news? You still have until May 31 to book at current rates—no 10-day or 22-day gimmick here, just a straightforward cutoff before the new chart locks in.
The Numbers That Matter
Current partner business class from North America to Europe (4,001–6,000 miles, think East Coast to most of the Continent): 70,000 points. New price: 75,000. First class jumps from 100,000 to 120,000. Shorter hops under 4,000 miles stay at 60,000 business, which is the one merciful unchanged sweet spot.[[1]](https://upgradedpoints.com/news/air-canada-aeroplan-award-charts-june-2026/)
To Asia, the damage is more noticeable. The popular 7,501–11,000-mile band (LAX to Singapore, or routing via Europe to deeper Asia) rises from 87,500 to 102,500 in business—a clean 17% hit and 15,000 extra points each way. The 5,001–7,500-mile band goes from 75,000 to 85,000. First class follows similar upward trajectories, with some bands up 10,000–20,000 points.[[2]](https://www.aircanada.com/content/dam/aircanada/loyalty-content/documents/flight-rewards-chart-june2026-en.pdf)
The 67% headline-grabber comes from certain dynamic “Air Canada and select partners” medians in ultra-long-haul Atlantic-Pacific routings, where business class starting prices leap from around 60,000 to 100,000. Not every redemption, but enough to make you wince if your favorite Star Alliance carrier gets swept into the higher bracket.
Sweet Spots Getting Sweeter—For Now
West Coast to Tokyo on ANA still sits at 55,000 business in the shortest Pacific band, untouched. Vancouver–Tokyo remains a steal at similar pricing. East Coast to Zurich or Vienna on SWISS or Austrian holds reasonably well in some bands. These are the routes to hammer before the window slams shut.
The real losers are the 87.5k Asia redemptions that have been a cornerstone for years—EVA Royal Laurel, ANA “The Room,” Asiana, and Singapore Suites when you could find them. That extra 15,000 points each way turns a no-brainer into something you’ll actually think twice about. Europe first class on Lufthansa is about to feel a lot less clever at 120k.
Transfer Partners and Timing
Chase Ultimate Rewards and American Express Membership Rewards both transfer to Aeroplan. A 20% Chase transfer bonus ran through April, but even without it, the math still favors moving points now if you have a trip in mind. Amex has offered 15–20% bonuses in the past; watch for one, then pull the trigger the same day.
Points transferred are immediately available. Book, then decide. Aeroplan allows changes to dates and routings on partner awards for a fee in many cases, and cancellations (with points redeposit) give you flexibility. This is not the time to be precious about “perfect” availability.
The devaluation isn’t apocalyptic—economy sees some decreases, short-haul intra-Europe business actually drops—but premium long-haul is clearly where Air Canada is extracting more value. They’ve given us notice. Most programs don’t.
What to Do Before May 31
Search partner awards today on aircanada.com or United.com (same inventory). Look at ANA, EVA, SWISS, Lufthansa, Singapore, and Thai. Book anything plausible for the next 12–15 months at current pricing. You can always cancel and redeposit for a fee if plans change.
Transfer only what you need for confirmed trips. Hold the rest in Chase or Amex until a bonus returns or you spot space. The 102.5k Asia price is still competitive with other programs, but it’s no longer the screaming deal it was.
Stop treating Aeroplan like an unlimited buffet. The era of 75k–87.5k business class to Asia on great carriers is ending for new bookings. Lock it in while the current chart still works, or watch your points lose another 15–20% of purchasing power on the routes that matter most.
Action item: Open the Aeroplan search tool right now, identify two potential business class trips to Asia or Europe in the next year, and book them before June 1. The points you save will be worth far more than the time it takes.
