A small wooden boat glides across glassy water to the man-made islet of Gospa od Škrpjela, then on to baroque Perast, timed for the light locals actually chase.
What to expect
Your boatman departs from Perast's stone quay, cutting the engine as you near the islet so you arrive quietly. Inside the chapel you'll see the extraordinary silver votive plaques left by sailors' wives over centuries, then walk Perast's abandoned baroque palaces with almost nobody else around. Late afternoon light turns the limestone mountains behind the bay a deep rose color.
