Parc du Mugel: Botanical Gardens & Coastal Cliff Walk

A free, little-known botanical garden climbs from subtropical palms to a windswept clifftop with sweeping views over the Mediterranean and the shipyards. This is what a well-travelled local actually sends you to, not the beach.

What to expect

You wander shaded paths lined with bamboo, cactus, and Mediterranean pine planted over a century ago, climbing gradually toward the Bec de l'Aigle cliff. At the top, benches look out over the calanques and the old shipyard cranes below. It's unhurried, uncrowded, and genuinely local.

Good to know

About 15 minutes on foot from the old port; wear comfortable shoes for the climb. Go mid-morning before the heat, and bring water as there are few facilities inside.
