A late-afternoon boat threading the outer skerries as grey seals haul out and the light turns gold over Lindisfarne Castle in the distance.
What to expect
You slip out of Seahouses as the day-trip boats are heading back in, giving you the outer rocks almost to yourselves. Grey seals bob curiously alongside the hull, pups haul out on the skerries in late summer/autumn, and the skipper cuts the engine for long stretches to watch and listen. Lindisfarne Castle silhouettes against the sunset on the return leg.
Good to know
Sailing times shift with sunset, so confirm the day's schedule with Serenity directly the morning you're in port; dress far warmer than the weather ashore suggests, as it's exposed on open water.
