Glide by boat through a landlocked fjord walled by 700m cliffs and waterfalls, carved by glaciers inside Gros Morne National Park.
What to expect
You'll walk about 3km from the highway parking lot across boreal bog on a boardwalk trail to reach the dock. The boat then cruises the full length of the fjord, passing sheer rock walls, hanging valleys, and cascading waterfalls, with a guide narrating the geology and wildlife. Bald eagles and black bears are sometimes spotted along the shoreline. It's widely considered the single most dramatic scenery in Atlantic Canada.
Good to know
Book the 10am sailing (call 1-888-458-2016) to leave the afternoon free; the trailhead is roughly 25-30 minutes' drive from Norris Point, so arrange a taxi/rental in advance and allow the walk-in time before departure.
