What to expect
After a briefing, you drive your own UTV or Jeep in a guided convoy of a handful of vehicles onto old logging roads climbing above the strait. Stops overlook the water and forested slopes, with the guide pointing out wildlife and history along the way. Muddy, bumpy, and genuinely fun rather than scripted.
Good to know
Book the earliest departure for best light and fewer other groups on the road; driver's license required to pilot a vehicle. Reserve directly with Icy Strait Point in advance, especially in summer.
