Meet a Sami herding family on the open plateau, learn to lasso, and hear how reindeer herding survives at 71°N.
What to expect
You're welcomed into a traditional lavvo (tent) with a fire going, served bidos (reindeer stew) or coffee, and taught the basics of lasso-throwing used in real herding. The family talks candidly about migrating herds across the plateau by season and the pressures modern life puts on the tradition. It's intimate — usually under a dozen visitors — and ends with time among the reindeer themselves.
