Walk the UNESCO churches of Old Goa before the tour buses arrive, guided by a local art historian who unpacks the Portuguese-Indian fusion inside Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral.
What to expect
You'll meet Mario at the Basilica of Bom Jesus gate just after sunrise, before heat and crowds set in. He weaves stories of St. Francis Xavier's relics, Goa's Portuguese colonial history, and the architectural blend of Baroque and Indian craftsmanship. The walk continues to the Se Cathedral and the quieter Church of St. Francis of Assisi, ending with coffee at a family-run bakery nearby.
Good to know
Book at least 3-4 days ahead directly with Mario via message. Old Goa is about 40 minutes from the Mormugao cruise berth by pre-arranged taxi; plan to be back onboard with a 2-hour buffer.
