You'll walk the dry moat and ramparts overlooking the Bataille des Saintes battlefield, through galleries covering the 1782 naval battle that decided the fate of the Caribbean. The succulent garden inside is one of the best in the French West Indies, full of native iguanas sunning themselves. From the top you get the postcard view over the bay and anchored yachts below.

Opens at 9am; go right at opening to beat cruise groups. It's a 20-minute uphill walk from the dock, or a short taxi. Contact the fort office directly to arrange the private guide in English.
