What to expect
You walk past rusting whale-oil cookers and collapsed try-pots on the shoreline, then up to Barnard House, a small museum of Falklands settler and whaling life. The warden explains how the island shifted from a whaling outpost to one of the world's most important seabird sanctuaries.
