Conquer Ilha Grande's dramatic 982m Parrot's Peak through dense Atlantic rainforest with a certified mountain guide, earning 360° panoramas of the entire island archipelago. One of Brazil's great coastal hikes — raw, wild, and deeply rewarding.
What to expect
Set out at dawn with your private guide through a cathedral of ancient ferns and orchids, the jungle alive with howler monkeys and toucans. The ascent steepens as you near the rocky pinnacle, scrambling the final stretch with fixed ropes for safety. At the summit, the entire Ilha Grande archipelago unfurls below — a mosaic of dark jungle, white beaches, and turquoise bays stretching to the horizon. The descent rewards you with a different trail angle and fresh sightings. Back in Abraão, a cold Antárctica beer and açaí bowl await.
Good to know
Strenuous 6–7 hour hike; participants should be fit with a head for heights. Early start (07:00) is essential — this must be planned around the earliest available tender. Trekking poles, trail shoes, and 2L water minimum required. Trail permit handled by operator. Not suitable after heavy rain.
