Witness North Pacific humpback whales breach, sing, and nurse their calves in the warm waters of the Maui Channel — one of the world's premier whale-watching grounds — aboard a premium small-group vessel with a marine naturalist.
What to expect
You board in Maalaea Harbor and within minutes are surrounded by the sounds and spectacle of humpback whales — December through April, Maui's channel hosts the highest concentration of these magnificent creatures on Earth. A resident marine naturalist identifies individual whales by fluke markings, explains their complex songs, and contextualises the conservation story of the species. Breaches, tail slaps, and mother-calf pairs are common sightings. The boats are equipped with hydrophones so you can actually listen to the whales singing beneath the hull — an experience that stays with you forever.
