Paddle silently into the Biesbosch, one of Europe's last freshwater tidal wildernesses, on a privately guided canoe expedition through reed-lined channels teeming with beaver, kingfisher, and osprey.
What to expect
You launch from the Biesbosch Center on the edge of Dordrecht and immediately leave the city behind. Your guide points out beaver-gnawed willows, marsh harrier thermals, and the subtle signs of a landscape that breathes with the tide. Channels grow narrower and quieter the deeper you go, punctuated by the electric flash of a kingfisher. End with coffee and Dutch apple cake at the waterside centre.
Good to know
The Biesbosch Center is a short taxi or cycle from the cruise dock — under 10 min. Half-day tours (3–4 hrs) fit comfortably within a port day. Book the private guide package directly; life jacket and route map included. No prior kayaking experience required.
