Paddle a sea kayak out across Princess Cays' glassy blue lagoon, then slip beneath the surface to snorkel coral heads teeming with Bahamian reef life. Active, independent, and utterly beautiful.
What to expect
Single and tandem sea kayaks are available from the watersports centre on the beach, and staff will orient you to the lagoon's layout before you push off into water so clear you can read the sand patterns three metres below. Paddle at your own pace toward the reef line, anchor your kayak in the shallows, and spend as long as you like snorkelling over elkhorn and staghorn coral with parrotfish, wrasse, and surgeonfish. The lagoon is calm and sheltered, making this accessible to novice kayakers and snorkellers alike, while experienced paddlers can explore further along the coast. Return at any time — there are no fixed slots.
Good to know
Snorkel equipment (mask, fins, vest) can be rented separately or as a combo with the kayak — confirm the bundle price on-island for the best rate. Reef-safe sunscreen only, please. Aim to get ashore on an early tender to maximise your time on the water before the afternoon all-aboard call. Lockers are available near the watersports centre for valuables.
