What to expect
Depart from Santa Margherita Ligure and head into the deep blue corridor where the Ligurian seabed plunges to 2,500 metres — prime feeding ground for some of Europe's largest cetaceans. Fin whale sightings — the second-largest animals on earth — are common from June through October, and pods of striped dolphins frequently bow-ride alongside the vessel. Sperm whales, Cuvier's beaked whales, and even the occasional blue whale have been recorded in these waters.
