Paddle a stand-up paddleboard across mirror-flat inland sea channels, then transition to a sea-kayak to glide through Miyakojima's lush mangrove forests — a pristine, crowd-free wilderness that feels utterly remote despite being minutes from port.
What to expect
Your guide collects you at Hirara and drives you to the protected inner lagoon near Maehama, where the water is glass-calm even on breezy days. After a 10-minute SUP orientation you're gliding across a turquoise channel with no other humans in sight. The kayak leg winds through a dense mangrove corridor, branches arching overhead, the air thick with birdsong. The session ends with fresh-cut Miyakojima mango on the shore — a perfect palate cleanser before your return.
Good to know
No prior SUP or kayak experience needed; guides are patient and safety-first. Best done in the morning for flat water. Sunscreen (reef-safe only), rash guard, and water provided. Duration is approx. 3 hrs — comfortable within a typical port day.
