Paddle a sea kayak through the Bec-Scie ecological reserve at the fjord's edge — a protected wilderness of sea caves, tidal currents, and cliff faces accessible only by water, led by expert local guides.
What to expect
Launch from a sheltered cove near La Baie and paddle alongside fjord walls that rise hundreds of metres above your cockpit, the water beneath you dropping to 270 m — one of the world's deepest accessible fjords. Your certified guide reads the tidal currents and chooses a route that threads sea caves and headlands, pausing to explain the fjord's geology and the remarkable cold-water marine ecosystem below. Harbour seals are frequent companions; on lucky days, a beluga surfaces nearby. The silence is absolute save for the dip of paddles and the cry of peregrine falcons far overhead.
Good to know
No prior kayaking experience required — guides provide a full safety briefing and technique session before launch. Wetsuits and all equipment supplied. Half-day tours run approximately 3 hours on the water; full-day options available. Confirm all-aboard time and allow transfer time from the pier (~15 min by taxi). Book directly on the Fjord en Kayak website; small-group spots fill quickly in July and August.
