One of America's great regional art museums — free admission, world-class permanent collection, and an internationally celebrated glass studio where you can watch master glassblowers at work or blow your own piece to take home.
What to expect
The permanent collection spans 30,000 objects: a Rubens, a Renoir, ancient Egyptian artefacts, and one of the finest glass collections anywhere in the world — 10,000 pieces from antiquity to Dale Chihuly. The Perry Glass Studio sits adjacent to the museum and hosts daily public demonstrations where artists shape molten glass at 2,100°F with breathtaking precision. Book a hands-on session in advance and leave with a handcrafted glass piece as your most distinctive souvenir. The light-filled building and sculpture garden are architectural pleasures in themselves.
Good to know
Museum open Tuesday–Sunday; Perry Glass Studio demos typically run late morning and afternoon — check the schedule at chrysler.org before your port day. The museum is in the Ghent neighbourhood, 15 minutes by rideshare from the terminal. Free admission means your budget goes entirely to the glass experience. Allow 2–3 hours.
