The Similan Islands rank among the world's top-ten dive destinations — granite boulders, manta rays, whale sharks, and 30-metre visibility. A luxury day-trip by catamaran delivers this UNESCO-listed marine park to non-divers and seasoned divers alike.
What to expect
Board a luxury catamaran at Tab Lamu Pier (2 hrs north of Phuket) and sail to the Similan archipelago, open October–May. Two to three snorkel or dive stops reveal staghorn coral gardens, hawksbill turtles, and schools of barracuda. Above water, the islands' white-quartz beaches backed by monsoon-sculpted boulders are straight out of a travel poster. Gourmet Thai lunch is served on deck as the boat repositions between sites.
Good to know
The Similans are only open Oct–May; verify your cruise date. Transfer from Phuket to Tab Lamu Pier is ~90 min — factor this into all-aboard planning. Full day is 10–11 hrs; this is a full-port-day commitment. Non-swimmers can join for snorkelling with a flotation vest.
