Step inside the most magnificent Straits Chinese mansion in Southeast Asia — a UNESCO-awarded indigo-blue masterpiece built by Penang's 19th-century 'Rockefeller of the East.' Expert-guided, intimate, and utterly irreplaceable.
What to expect
A resident guide leads you through 38 rooms, five granite-paved courtyards, and seven staircases of this meticulously restored 1880s mansion. Stained-glass skylights, blue-glazed ceramic floors, and intricate cast-iron fittings tell the story of Thio Thiaw Siat, who rose from Chinese coolie to global trading magnate. The blue exterior — an iconic Penang photographic landmark — is even more arresting up close.
