Plunge into mist-shrouded cloud forest on a private guided trek through Bach Ma National Park — spectacular waterfalls, rare wildlife, and colonial French villas perched at 1,450 m, all just 40 km from the port.
What to expect
Your private driver whisks you the short distance to Bach Ma's cool, forest-draped slopes — a refreshing contrast to the coastal heat. A knowledgeable naturalist guide leads you along trails past tumbling Do Quyen Waterfall and through dense primary forest where hornbills, civets, and rare pheasants share the canopy. The crumbling French hill-station buildings at the summit lend an evocative Lost World atmosphere. Pack a picnic lunch from a Da Nang deli or arrange a simple mountain-hut meal, then descend refreshed and muddy-booted in time for a leisurely return to the ship.
Good to know
Bach Ma is only ~40 km from Chan May (~45 min) — the closest bucket-list excursion to the port. The park is best from January to August; heavy rains Sept–Nov can close trails. Wear proper hiking shoes and bring insect repellent. Park gate opens at 07:30; aim to start trekking by 08:30 for the most comfortable conditions.
