What to expect
The 55-metre climb up the restored Roman core reveals successive layers of history: original Roman masonry, 18th-century restoration, and finally the lantern room with sweeping views across the Costa da Morte. Good to know
The Tower is a 15-min taxi ride or 25-min walk from the cruise pier along the coastal promenade. It opens at 10:00 (check seasonal hours). Arrive first thing for the best light and fewest visitors. Comfortable walking shoes essential for the cobbled spiral.
