Journey into the world's most spectacular karst underworld — a 24-km network of cathedral caverns, stalagmite forests, and the endemic blind cave olm — then emerge to a fairytale castle embedded in a sheer 123-metre cliff. Slovenia's two crown jewels, in one extraordinary day.
What to expect
Your private driver collects you at Koper port and whisks you to Postojna (45 min) in a premium vehicle. Inside, a miniature train carries you deep into a glittering netherworld of 5-million-year-old formations before a walking tour reveals the legendary human fish (Proteus anguinus) in the cave's vivarium. The drive to Predjama Castle (9 km) takes minutes; the castle — built into a yawning cave mouth in 1570 — is one of Europe's most dramatic fortresses, its rooms hiding secret escape tunnels used by the outlaw knight Erasmus. A private picnic or restaurant lunch is arranged en route. You return to Koper with an hour to spare before all-aboard.
Good to know
This is a full-day commitment (~7–8 hrs); confirm your ship's all-aboard time before booking. Postojna Cave maintains a constant 8°C — bring a warm layer regardless of season. Pre-book cave entry (included in private tour price) as timed slots sell out fast in high season. Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes.
